  1. Morning Meet in your hotel and drive to The Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum.

It was the residence of the great poet of Tang Dynasty when he took refuge in Chengdu. Du Fu, known also as Du Zi-mei, was born in Gong County, Henan province in 712. When he was twenty, he began to travel widely along the area of the lower reaches of Yangzi River. In 746, he took official examination in Changan, the capital of Tang Dynasty, and failed, since then he lived there for more than ten years. When the An-Si Rebellion broke out in 758, he fled the seized capital and joined the Emperor Shu Zhong’s stuff, and was appointed as Shi Yi, a Tang Dynasty official title, hence was called Du Shi Yi as well. As he offended the Emperor later, he was relegated to Hua Zhou. In 759, he resigned office to enter Sichuan, and built the thatched cottage by the Flower Bathing Brook in the west suburban of Chengdu city, and lived there for four years, composing during this period about 240 poems, among which include such ones as the Prime Minister of the Shu Kingdom and the Rhyme to the Thatched Cottage broken by the Autumn wind that came to be known as the masterpieces in the history of Chinese literature.

  2. Afternoon After lunch, visit the Wuhou Temple Museum.

Situated in the southern suburb of the Chengdu City, Wuhou (an honorific title means Martial Marquis) Memorial Temple was an ancestral temple with a history covering over one-thousand-years, established as a memorial to the prime minister of Shu (221 – 263) in the Three Kingdoms Period (220 – 280) – Zhuge Liang. According to a poem of Dufu a famous poet in Chinese history, described in his poem Prime Minister of Shu written by Dufu ”Where can we find the Marquis of Prime Minister, it is outside the Jinguan City among the mass of cypress. ” experts concluded the temple was established during or prior to the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907), but the specific date is not clear. In the early Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), Wuhou Temple merged with the Zhaolie Temple, the memorial temple of Liu Bei, the Emperor of Shu, forming a special bond between lord and vassal venerated in one temple. Tourists will find the horizontal tablet reads ’Han (the Han Dynasty) Zhaolie (refers to Liu Bei) Miao (temple)’ before entering the gate.

  3. Afterwards visit the Jinli Old Street

It was originally built as a commercial street during the Shu Kingdom (221 A.D.-263 A.D.), Jinli Old Street was reconstructed in 2004 in the traditional architectural style of Sichuan Province during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Located in the east of Wuhou Memorial Temple of Chengdu City, Jinli Old Street combines the ambience of ancient and modern China. The Shop keepers, waiters and waitresses are all dressed in traditional style clothing, making this street feel to visitors as though they have stepped back in time. Being one of the oldest commercial streets in China, Jinli Old Street is not only a wonderful reminder China’s past, but also a great place for people to fully appreciate Sichuan’s customs, and folk arts. Visitors can try the indigenous foods and snacks, while shopping for the showcased handicrafts that Sichuan Province is famous for: paper-cutting, clay figurines, and Shu embroidery. In the middle of Jinli Old Street, a wooden stage has been constructed. Specially designed to showcase local performances loved for centuries in Chengdu, this stage is a popular meeting place for locals. Some of the most popular performances are local shadow puppet, and the local Sichuan Opera performances. They are performed just as they have been for centuries.

Reflecting both the diversity and integration of Sichuan custom and folklore, Jinli Old Street is a must-see location in not only Chengdu, but China as a whole.

  4. Evening As an option in the evening (200CNY extra), enjoy a wonderful variety show of “Face changing” and “Flame Spitting - Out” of Sichuan Opera.
