Du Fu Culture Festival

Du Fu Culture Festival will open on Feb. 1 at the Chengdu Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage Museum. As an amazing highlight of the traditional event, an activity titled Touring around Du Fu’s Old Residence on the 7th Day of the Chinese Lunar Year’s 1st Month will take place on Feb. 11. It is a customary tradition for local people to pay tribute to Du Fu (712-770), a great poet in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), on the special day at the museum.

A poetry reading session, an original poetry creation session, dancing and singing performances and a Chinese New Year symphony concert, etc. will be staged during the Festival.

Fu Wa, literally the Chinese Lucky Babies, will send blessings to visitors from the 1st day (Feb. 5) to the 7th day (Feb. 11) of the Chinese Lunar Year’s 1st month.

Visitors can view blooming plum blossoms and other fresh flowers at the Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage Museum and Huanhuaxi Park during the period.
